Slow fashion that does not compromise on style. London based social enterprise Birdsong produce their eye-catching collections and wardrobe staples all made-to-order, in protest against the fast nature of the fashion industry. Designed for remarkable women but also made by them. “We know that women want more from their wardrobe but the world of ethical sustainable and local fashion can be a minefield. So, we’ve ticked all the boxes for you.”
All designed in-house from their East London studio, by their designer Susanna Wen, who collects inspiration from art, nature and culture. Together with their makers, Susanna builds concepts around their skills to create the collections.
Their latest collection “Harvest Moon” is created by patchwork of their archival prints, to celebrate seven years at the forefront of sustainable fashion. The collection comprises hand-made wardrobe classics in supple, soft TENCEL™ Lyocell, paired with silky reclaimed slips and weighty organic denims. A mixture of tones, textures, and psychedelic prints meet modern silhouettes. The whole collection is available from size 6 – 30, truly inclusive.
Birdsong ensure makers are provided with a living wage, working with them closely during the development of each item. Together Birdsong and the makers come to a price point that is justified and dignified for the craftsmanship and careful creation of the garments. Once our designs are perfected, the makers get to work on shooting the samples. All photographed in our East London studio, and uploaded to our site, ready to be made-to-order!
