Issue 007 — Editor’s Letter

As I sit here writing this, I can’t help but feel excited for this year and what’s to come. It seems that we have finally seen the tail end of the pandemic, that was a tough time for any of us to go through let alone start the new decade that way. What we thought would be filled with fresh fashion, future outlooks, and new beginnings have trickled along over the last couple of years. Although it seems we have finally got our groove back, 2022 has a lot to prove. Collectively there is a sense that we all must make this year a good one, and I truly feel it will be.

This past month has been Fashion month, we have seen all the designers from Copenhagen, New York, London, Milan, and Paris showcase their Autumn/Winter collections for 2022. After careful curation, we have selected a handful of designers we’ve seen forefront sustainability and the environment in their collections to share with you. Upcycling and using deadstock fabric has started to become more of the norm among the designers, which is truly fantastic and exciting to see such huge names in fashion work more consciously.

This issue is packed with the top trends for the year, seeing a huge rise in y2k styles, low rise, ultra-miniskirts and the return of the platform.  Alongside an interview with Hideyuki the creative director of WAySTEaD a brand with a mission to transform waste from all over the world into treasures from fashion design. Using unique fabrics such as hot air balloons, seatbelts and airbags to create garments.

After creating Issue 007,  we can see a slight shift in the industry and the way it creates, do not take this the wrong way, there is always room for improvement and there is still a long way to go. But it’s great to see some change and initiative being made by those big names. We hope that this issue inspires you, your outlook and your wardrobe for the year!

Sincerely,

Georgia India
