Vegan leather is often branded as lower quality and less durable than animal leather. While the go-to material for vegan leather is polyurethane, fruit waste is looked to as a high quality, sustainable alternative. Minuit sur Terre is a French brand revolutionising vegan leather with waste from apples and grapes. Their ‘no leather, no cry’ shoes, designed for men and women, are ethical without compromising quality.

Founded in 2017, Minuit sur Terre had the goal of creating eco-responsible, vegan alternatives to leather. For months, the brand tested on the vinicultural waste from grapes. They discovered that it is ‘a plant material like no other’: resistant, naturally impermeable and durable. Minuit sur Terre are proud to be the only French brand using this revolutionary leather, sourced from grapes and vegetable oils.

The French brand is driving sustainable change in the fashion industry. They state, ‘we do not want to rest on our achievements but rather try to always do better and more’. As of Spring 2021, 80% of Minuit sur Terre’s products are sourced from plant-based materials, including grape leather and apple leather. Some of the remaining ingredients include reused bottles found in the Mediterranean Sea and recycled rubber from old trainers.
