Izzy’s Zero Waste Lip Butter
Izzy is a beauty brand that caught our attention with its zero waste mascara made from reusable materials. Upon finishing the product, users return the stainless steel mascara bottle to Izzy and receive a new mascara every 90 days. When we interviewed Shannon Goldberg, the founder of Izzy, for our Instagram last year, she mentioned that Izzy would be releasing new zero waste products. We held tight and waited in anticipation until last week, when Izzy announced a new product: gorgeously glossy lip butter.
The lip butter has a touch of mint and has been designed to lightly moisturise. Like Izzy’s mascara, the lip butter is available for a one time purchase, or it can be bought as a membership. With the membership, customers are sent a new lip butter every 90 days. We love that Izzy holds buyers accountable for their environmental impact, by charging a small fee to anyone who fails to return old tubes for reuse.
We were able to chat with Shannon and ask her a question about her new product.
What is unique about the lip butter and why are you proud of it?
“Glossy Lip Butter shares all the same sustainable magic as our zero waste mascara. It can be washed and refilled up to 10,000 times, used 94% less plastic and is made within the same closed loop supply chain within a 400 mile radius. The formula in jam packed with plant and fruit based butters and provides your lips with a natural glossy finish. The premium formula is also cruelty free, vegan, gluten free and clean? What can I say? It’s a home run launch in my opinion, and my favourite product to reapply throughout the day.”
