OBLIVIOUS?
In the UK Organic Textile Report 2020, it was stated that 54% of shoppers are concerned about the use of chemicals in clothing. While some brands transition to more sustainable fabrics, dyes and packaging after years of business, OBLIVIOUS? has been deeply eco-conscious from their very beginning in 2020.
OBLIVIOUS? is mother-and-daughter-run clothing line focused on asking questions. Based in the UK and Germany, the brand wish to inspire curiosity in the world and to bring us closer together one question at a time.
Questions encourage transparency, whether they are directed towards brands or to yourself. OBLIVIOUS? are clear about their fabrics, dyes, packaging and use of plastics. The garments are made from 100% GOTS certified organic cotton, which ensures that the material is responsibly sourced using minimal toxic pesticides. Every item purchased from OBLIVIOUS? is packaged in recycled or recyclable materials that have a lower carbon footprint.
We had the honour of asking Jacqueline Mozanowski, the lovely co-founder of OBLIVIOUS?, a questions of our own.
Do you have any questions for our readers about sustainability?
”A good question to ask yourself when it comes to fashion and sustainability is, how much wear do I get out of my clothes? If you’re out buying something, when you’re looking at it, will you actually wear it enough times? Can you keep it for a longer time? What materials were used? This plays into how long-lasting is the garment but also what kind of impact did it have and where was it made. I think one of the main thing that people can do is not try to buy to buy to wear once and throw away. Rather, buy for pieces that you know you’ll like and wear and your can keep to re-style.”
